Joe Farrell is an American meteorologist working for WOI-DT Local 5 News as a meteorologist and multimedia journalist since joining the station in November 2025. This is his second stint at the station, having worked here back in 2017.

Following his stint at Local 5 News, Farrell headed to Atlanta, Georgia, as a field producer for The Weather Channel. There, he broadcast everything, including hurricanes, big snowstorms, and gained experience producing TV out in the elements.
Farrell has been passionate about the weather since he was a little kid. His mother remembers him always picking the weather and science books whenever they went to the library. Iowa’s crazy weather, paired with severe season and winter storms, only grew his passion for weather, leading him to where he is today.
