John Cameron is an American meteorologist working for KDFX as a weekend weather forecaster since joining the station in December 2024. Previously, he worked for News Channel 6 (KAUZ) for 25 years.

Cameron works for KDFX as a weekend weather forecaster. He joined the KDFX weather team with over 25 years of local weather forecasting experience. He enjoys talking about Texas’ extreme weather and severe weather safety to civic groups and schools. In 2012, he received the National Weather Association’s Broadcaster’s Seal of Approval.

In the early 90s, Cameron joined the US Navy, where he learned operational forecasting. He relocated to Wichita Falls with his wife after graduating from college. Not long after moving to the area, he secured a studio camera operator position at a local TV station. In 1999, he used the skills he learned in the military as a part-time weathercaster for the local CBS affiliate.

Considered a specialist on the Terrible Tuesday tornado outbreak of April 10th,1979, Cameron was a consultant for the Science Museum of Minnesota. He advised on their draft of the Terrible Tuesday Tornado Theater display at the Museum of the Great Plains in Lawton. Besides his work on TV, he has been a licensed amateur radio operator since 1999. His call sign is KD5DYT.
