John Paul Biography

John Paul is an American Anchor/Reporter working for WSBT News in South Bend, Indiana where he serves the station as an Evening News Anchor. He has been working with the station since July 2022. 

John Paul Career

Paul works with WSBT News where he serves the station as an Evening News Anchor for the 5, 6, and 11 PM News. There, he co-anchors the news alongside Jennifer Copeland. Asides from this, he co-anchors the 10 PM Newscasts on FOX Michiana. He is a familiar face and honored to rejoin one of the best television stations in the country.

Before that, he worked with the WSBT News team as a News Reporter/Fill-in Anchor between July 2008 and September 2012. When he was serving the station as a Reporter, he earned first-place recognition in the Spot News category by the Indiana Associated Press for a story about a fire at a popular restaurant.

Asides from this, he has earned first-place recognition in the Best General News category by the Indiana Associated Press for a story about animal rescue. Asides from this, he has received a second-place honor for his story about a Prisoner Escape in Northwest Indiana.

In the past decade, he has been privileged to cover breaking news and investigations in the South. Asides from this, he has launched and anchored top-rated weekend morning newscasts at the ABC station in Northwest Arkansas. Asides from this, he has spent about 7 years working at Memphis’ ABC station, WATN-TV. When he was in Memphis, he helped improve ratings as an anchor for the morning and midday newscasts.

Asides from this, he has served as the station’s consumer reporter. His investigations and stories have also helped families save money, make money, and stay safe. His story about how to cash in from those annoying robocalls was nominated for a Mid-South Emmy. He is very passionate about serving his community.

Paul has helped raise money for the American Cancer Society through the organization’s, “Real Men Wear Pink campaign. Asides from this, he has emceed many local events and hosted specials about heart health and breast cancer. He has also shared untold stories about Black History in the Mid-South and anchored the station’s Liberty Bowl parade specials.

Paul is a proud graduate of Kent State University where he studied between 2001 and 2005. There, he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Broadcast Journalism. He and his family are looking forward to tailgating and exploring all of the amazing changes in Michiana, and College Football.
