Josh Croup Biography

Josh Croup is an American journalist working for WTVG as a weekend evening anchor since August 2021. He joined the station in February 2021 as a multimedia journalist and substitute anchor. Previously, he worked for WDTV 5 News in Clarksburg, West Virginia as an anchor, reporter, and executive producer.

Croup attended Point Park University in Pittsburgh in 2014 after completing his high school education at Butler High School. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2018 with a Bachelor Of Arts degree in Broadcast Reporting and minors in Public Relations/Advertising and Broadcast Production. Croup received two Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award nominations while he was still a student. In 2017, he received the 2017 distinction in the college/university on-air talent category.

Croup led the digital desk live-streaming endeavors on Action News Now. For his work, he received the prestigious Regional Edward R. Murrow Award in 2023 for “Excellence in Innovation.” Previously, he worked for WDTV 5 News in Clarksburg, West Virginia as an anchor, reporter, and executive producer.

During his time in Clarksburg, the Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters named him Best Reporter in 2019 and 2020. Also, he received the West Virginia Broadcasters Association’s Award for Best General Assignment Reporting in 2019. Moreover, he broadcasted the food setting in West Virginia on Tasty Tuesday. In 2019, the segment received the Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters Award for Best Specialty Reporting and placed second in the same category in 2020.
