Josh Taylor Biography

Josh Taylor is an American journalist of African descent working for KDKA CBS News Pittsburgh as a sports anchor, producer, and reporter. He joined the station in April 2015. Previously, he served KHBS-KHOG in Fayetteville as a weekend sports anchor for 2 years.

During his time in Fayetteville, he received two Associated Press awards for his work with the station’s broadcast of Arkansas Razorback football.

Taylor fell in love with sports when he was a child watching his first Penguins game at seven years old. His first experience as a student journalist was when he served DUQ-TV News special as an anchor, reporter, and producer. The news special received a Telly Award in 2008.

A jack of all trades, Taylor has worked on-air in television and radio and has co-authored six books, each of them about Pittsburgh sports. In 2017, he started making a name for himself while hosting “Sunday Morning Grind” on KDKA-FM, 93.7 “The Fan.” Additionally, he announced local sports as well as did play-by-play and color commentary for Duquesne men’s and women’s basketball games and high school football

The Duquesne Journalism and Multimedia Department added him to its “Wall of Fame” in 2017. Also, he was honored among New Pittsburgh Courier’s “Men of Excellence.” Next, he started public speaking, emceeing, and co-hosting the Courier’s Vann Media Awards Banquet alongside KDKA’s Mikey Hood. In 2018, he presented at the City League Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

During his free time, he is involved in community outreach and volunteer work, where he hosts and speaks at events for multiple organizations. Since 2018, he has worked as a member of the Young Professionals Board for Wesley Family Services. Closely, he has worked with the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf.

In 2019, he served as the host of WPSD’s “An Evening in Edgewood.” Moreover, he danced and served as emcee of “Dancing With the Pittsburgh Superstars.” Annually, he hosts the “Dancing With the Dukes” event at Duquesne to support his brothers of Gamma Phi Fraternity.

In 2019, Josh hosted WPSD’s “An Evening in Edgewood,” helping them raise funds for their on-campus Children’s Center. He has also participated in “Dancing With the Pittsburgh Superstars” as both a dancer and emcee and also hosts the annual “Dancing With the Dukes” event at Duquesne to support his brothers of Gamma Phi Fraternity.
