Jovita Moore Biography

Jovita Moore was an American news anchor, presenter, and reporter who anchored the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. newscasts on Channel 2 Action News.

She had been working at WSB-TV since joining in 1998 and had received several Emmy Awards during her years at WSB-TV. Prior to joining WSB-TV, she was working at WMC-TV in Memphis, Tennessee, and KFSM in Fayetteville and Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Moore graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York City. She also has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont.

Moore began her career as a reporter at KFSM-TV in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 1990. She then worked at WMC-TV in Memphis, Tennessee. Moore was a member of the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists and the National Association of Black Journalists. She was a member of Leadership Atlanta’s Class of 2007 and a member of Outstanding Atlanta’s Class of 2004. Moore was featured on the list of 40 Under 40 by Georgia Trend Magazine and was selected as one of Jezebel magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful in 2007.

Moore, “passed peacefully” as “as she wanted,” with her family by her side, her co-anchor at WSB-TV, Justin Farmer said.
