Joy Burgin is an American journalist working for WOAI as a traffic anchor and producer since 2023. Before that role, she served the station as an associate producer. She joined the station in June 2022 as an intern.
Joy Burgin Education
Burgin joined Northwest Vista College in 2019 where she studied Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies, and Humanities. In 2020, she joined the University of the Incarnate Word and in 2022, graduated with Summa Cum Laude a Bachelor’s degree in Communications.
During her time at the University of the Incarnate Word, she worked for UIWtv as an anchor and co-producer. According to the Broadcast Education Association, UIWtv was named the best station in the nation under her leadership.
Burgin was chosen best on-air talent in Texas for two consecutive years by the Lone Star Emmy Chapter NATAS Student Production category. She earned four Lone Star EMMY NATAS Student Production Awards. During her last semester in college, she worked as an intern at News 4/Fox San Antonio. In 2018, she worked as Miss Citizenship on the Miss Helotes Court.
