Julie Chin is an American journalist working for KJRH as the weekday morning and midday Meteorologist for 2 News Oklahoma. She joined the station in 2020 as an anchor and was the special projects reporter for Positively Oklahoma
Julie Chin Education
Chin joined the S.I. Newhouse School at Syracuse University after finishing her high school education. She later graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. Further, she finished Mississippi State University’s Geosciences Program with honors.

Originally, she was part of the team that developed and debuted the weekend morning newscast in 2003, which was Green Country’s only weekend morning news.

Chin is a multiple Emmy award-winning Anchor, Journalist, and meteorologist who has lived in Oklahoma for over 20 years. She went on a hiatus from the weather for several years to concentrate on family, returning to her journalism roots and KJRH as an anchor and reporter.
Chin enjoys shedding light on the wonderful things in Green Country. Her Positively Oklahoma series has earned her several awards, including the Society of Professional Journalists Award for Best Series, the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasting for Best Feature Series, and a Heartland Emmy Nomination for Human Interest. She has the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval.

Chin has worked as a producer, reporter, anchor, and meteorologist for TV stations nationwide, including WCTI, WXII, and WBOY, before coming to Tulsa for her position at KJRH. She launched her career at WCBS in New York City, where she worked with the investigative and consumer team. Also
Chin has a passion for the community and is often emceeing events around town. Her volunteering efforts won her the Scripps-Howard William Burleigh Award for Outstanding Community Service. She appeared in the state’s top “40 under 40” list in both Oklahoma Magazine and Tulsa Business Journal. The American Red Cross chose her as an Everyday Hero. Additionally, she is an honorary Okie from Muskogee from the city of Muskogee.
