Kandace Redd Biography
Kandace Redd is an American journalist working for KXTV ABC10 as a reporter for the ABC10 Morning News since she was promoted in May 2024. She joined the station in 2021 as the Race and Culture Reporter. Previously, she worked for WFMY News 2, ABC10’s sister station, in Greensboro, North Carolina.

In 2023, she received a nomination for an Emmy for her report, “Florin Square: Sacramento’s Black Wall Street.” The report looks into how the Black entrepreneurial spirit lives on from the Greenwood District in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to the Florin Square Shopping Center in Sacramento.
Redd previously worked for WFMY News 2, ABC10’s sister station, in Greensboro, North Carolina. During her time there, she was a multiskilled journalist and fill-in anchor on The Good Morning Show. Also, she broadcast local stories that gained national attention, such as a deadly EF-2 tornado, the passing of Billy Graham, and the removal of the Winston-Salem Confederate monument. Moreover, she spearheaded the morning news coverage of the racial justice protests, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the 2020 presidential election.
Before her time at WFMY, Redd worked for 16 WAPT News in Jackson, Mississippi, as a morning reporter and producer. During her time there, she handled breaking news and enterprise stories, including the murder of 6-year-old Kingston Frazier, Mississippi’s debated removal of the Confederate symbol on the state flag, and an interview with NFL legend Jerry Rice about national anthem protests.
Before moving to Jackson, Redd worked for WXVT Delta News in Greenville, Mississippi, as the morning anchor, reporter, and producer. She started her career in journalism in Washington, D.C., where she was a news intern. Also, she served WTOP 103.5FM all-news radio, WTTG FOX 5, and the CBS News Washington Bureau. During her time in Washington, she went on an assignment for CBS News to cover President Barack Obama’s “Middle Class Jobs and Opportunity Tour.” She spent 4 years in Washington before relocating to the New England region to be a a news apprentice at WBZ 4 CBS Boston.
Redd serves as a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. Also, she loves to spend time with loved ones, engage with all communities to help form a more unified and peaceful world, and mentor the youth.
