Karen Edwards is an American journalist working for 13WHAM as an evening breaking news anchor since joining the station in June 2023. Previously, she worked as an evening anchor at Spectrum News Upstate NY for nearly 3 years.

Edwards joined the University of Maryland in 2006 after finishing her high school education. She studied Communications and Media Studies there until 2007. In 2009, she transferred to Kennesaw State University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication and a minor in Professional Writing. There, she was involved with the Society of Professional Journalists and Atlanta Association of Black Journalists.

Before Albany, Edwards worked in Louisiana for 4 years, starting with Monroe and then Shreveport. In Shreveport, she anchored and produced four hours of morning news. She was later promoted to managing editor. She launched her on-air career at WRDW in Augusta, Georgia, where she was an anchor and reporter.
Edwards, a military child, has relocated multiple times during her childhood before her father retired in metro Atlanta from the Navy. She now regards Kennesaw, Georgia, as home and is thrilled to give people context on the big, breaking, and developing stories of the day.
