Katherine Beinecke Michel is an American graphic designer who is best known for being the ex-wife of the late American singer-songwriter, record producer, and guitarist, Adam Schlesinger.

Her ex-husband was a founding member of the band’s Fountains of Wayne, Ivy, and Tinted Windows. He was a key songwriting contributor and producer for Brooklyn-based synth-pop duo Fever High.

He had been nominated for 10 Emmys for writing comical songs across several television shows, winning three. Adam was also  nominated for an Academy Award for writing the title song to the 1997 Tom Hanks-directed movie “That Thing You Do.”

The ban’s attorney said in a statement;  “As many of you are aware, Adam had been hospitalized with Covid-19 and although he had been making some small improvements over the last few days, Adam’s condition was critical and he was ultimately unable to recover from Covid-19 complications. He was truly a prolific talent and even more so, a loving and devoted father, son, and friend.”

Dashboard Confessional singer Chris Carrabba wrote on Twitter; “I am grasping for the right words. My dear friend Adam Schlesinger has passed away from Covid-19. I knew him best as a mentor and a friend.”

Chris Carrabba added: “We must take this seriously. People are sick and dying. It is hard to stay locked indoors but lives will be saved. Take care of each other. Rest In Peace, my dear friend.”
