Katy Solt is an American journalist working for WBTV as a news reporter since joining the station in August 2025. Previously, she worked as a news anchor ABC News 4 WCIV in Charleston County, South Carolina.

Solt joined the University of South Carolina after finishing her education at Charlotte Catholic High School. In 2013, she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communications with a minor in Theatre. In 2012, she studied abroad at Regent’s College in London, England.

Before returning to Charlotte, Solt spent 3.5 years as an anchor of the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts at WCIV in Charleston, South Carolina. She has covered multiple national stories during her career, including the arrest of Brittanee Drexel’s killer, the Alex Murdaugh double-murder lawsuit, hurricanes, snowstorms, and the Boeing whistleblower death investigation.
Solt’s Behind the Badge series and coverage of the Alex Murdaugh trial earned her RTDNAC Awards. Behind the Badge sheds light on the unique backgrounds of law enforcement officers across the Charleston region. She spent 4 years as a traffic anchor, fill-in anchor, and reporter for Spectrum News 1 in North Carolina.
While at Spectrum News1, Solt broadcast big headlines, such as the creation of Charlotte FC, the fatal shooting at UNC Charlotte, Charlotte’s reaction to the coronavirus pandemic, as well as the sale and purchase of the Carolina Panthers in 2018.

Solt was a reporter at WSPA in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and at WFXG in Augusta, Georgia. While in Georgia, she broadcast the arrest of serial killer Todd Kohlhepp, sporting events like the Masters Golf Tournament, and big weather events like snow and wildfires.
