A few months after graduating from college, Smith shared her reel from that class on YouTube, which led to a few news stations reaching out. She chose to start her broadcasting career at WDTV in Bridgeport, West Virginia. She initially wanted to spend 2 years there, but ended up staying for more than three years.
While in West Virginia, Smith broadcast severe thunderstorms, snowstorms, and the worst drought the state had seen in at least 2 and a half years. She returned to Philadelphia at the turn of 2025. Following a 9-month hiatus, she accepted an on-air position here at WROC.
