He worked as a student manager under head coach Jay Wright and occasionally practiced with the team.
Before NBC10, he served the ABC affiliate in Harrisburg, WHSV as an anchor and reporter. Next, he worked for the ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh, WTAE as a reporter and substitute anchor. He has served Villanova University as an adjunct professor of Broadcast Journalism since 2013. In 2018, he obtained Villanova’s Young Alumni Medal, annually given to alumni who have made outstanding contributions to one or more regions of society.
Jones received Villanova’s annual Ethos Award, which recognizes role models to students in the field of Communication, in 2014. He also received the school’s annual Young Alumni Medallion in 2014. Additionally, he received five Edward R. Murrow Awards and 13 Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Anchor in 2021.
Active in the community, he has volunteered on the Board of Directors for nonprofits. Such nonprofits include the Philadelphia Fireman’s Museum, Main Line Deputy Dog, and Turning Points for Children. He actively volunteers with the American Red Cross of Eastern Pennsylvania and Villanova’s Office of Disability Services. Jones loves to play the guitar and piano and has recorded original music.
