Kenneth Choi Biography
Kenneth Choi is an American actor who is best known for playing Henry Lin on the television series Sons of Anarchy, Chester Ming in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street in 2013, and Judge Lance Ito in The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story released in 2016.
Choi’s other film credits include roles as Jim Morita in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011 and Principal Morita in Spider-Man: Homecoming. He played Lewis on the FOX comedy series The Last Man on Earth and currently, he starred in FOX first responder drama series 9-1-1, playing LAFD firefighter Howie “Chimney” Han.
Kenneth Choi Career
After dropping out of Purdue University, he ran away to Portland. He stated that “I came from a very traditional Asian upbringing so they were very strict. When I decided to pursue acting, I knew that I had to do it all on my own. When I left the Midwest, I cut all ties with my family. I basically ran away from home.” He worked at a local Blockbuster video store to raise money. For the next 5 years, he trained with local Portland acting teachers, mostly with film and theatre director Paul Warner.
Choi got his first role in the Disney Channel television movie, Halloweentown, alongside Debbie Reynolds. He then moved to Los Angeles in late 1999 to further pursue his acting career. Choi has been able to appear in over 25 films, including The Wolf of Wall Street as Chester Ming, Captain America: The First Avenger as Jim Morita, Red Dawn as Smith, and Suicide Squad.
In the 2017 film Spider-Man: Homecoming, he portrays the grandson of his Captain America character. Choi has performed in more than 40 television shows. including Sons of Anarchy as Henry Lin, NBC TV series Ironside as Captain Ed Rollins, and NBC TV series Allegiance as Sam Luttrell.
Choi portrayed Judge Lance Ito in the Emmy Award-winning FX series, American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson and made appearances in a number of TV series, including The Last Man on Earth, Longmire, Glee, Heroes, The Newsroom, 24, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, House M.D., Lincoln Heights, and The King of Queens.
Choi voiced Jim Morita in the video game Captain America: Super Soldier and voiced the role of a gangster in the 2004 video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. In 2018, Choi took the role of Bob Dwyer on Starz’s new series, Counterpart, and played Howie “Chimney” Han on FOX TV’s hit show, 9-1-1. He featured in the film Gringo opposite Joel Edgerton and Charlize Theron and in Hotel Artemis alongside Jodie Foster.

Choi went to Longwood Elementary in Glenwood, Illinois, and later joined intermediate and junior high school at Brookwood School District 167 where he had his first performance as a breakdancer.
When Kenneth joined Homewood-Flossmoor High School he was active in cross-country and gym. He also had a sophomore record for the pommel horse. His parents were against the idea of him becoming an actor and encouraged him to pursue accounting which he did at Purdue University but he later dropped out to pursue an acting career.
