Crumpton serves at FOX 8 – WJW as a Morning Show/Feature reporter on “Kickin It With Kenny”. His adventures on WJW – FOX 8 News in The Morning began on a cold day. Shortly after fans toured Crumpton’s “empty” apartment, they found him swimming with dolphins in 19-degree weather! Before joining the station, he served at KJEO-TV in sunny Fresno, California.
Crumpton’s antics have placed him; skydiving out of a plane at 12,000 feet, standing atop Terminal Tower (575 feet above ground), wrestling a bear, riding a circus elephant, and jumping off a 30-foot platform into Lake Erie. Also, hanging out in a shark tank with 8 sharks, feeding a 500-pound tiger “inside” the cage, and trading steps with Broadway-great Ben Vereen.
Crumpton is a board member of The Celebrity Soul Food Cook-off and The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s “Halloween Bash.” He has also worked in assisting in raising funds for many charitable organizations such as Cleveland Food Bank, the Diabetes Association, United Way Foundation, the Easter Seals, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and NFL Charities.
He began his career in journalism in 1990 summer when he served at KFDX in Wichita Falls, Texas as a fill-in anchor and general assignment reporter. For his work there, he earned 2 regional first-place honors for “Best Series Reporting” and “Best Spot News Coverage.” Crumpton’s 5-part series called “The Struggle of the African-American Farmer” earned an honorable mention from NABBJ – the National Association of Black Broadcast Journalists.
At KJEO, Crumpton reported on many stories and earned national attention. Some of these stories include the Yosemite Murders, the massive flooding of Central Valley, California’s 1st Violent Crime Suppression Unit, the Sierra National Forest Fires, and the crashing of a jet in Fresno. In Fresno, Crumpton ran one marathon to raise awareness and funds for the Leukemia Society. He was also a board member of the Fresno Reads program. Crumpton also assisted in bringing awareness to the significance of bone-marrow registration and blood donation.
Crumpton’s commitment to the community won him 2 Fresno Chapter NAACP Image Awards. He also earned recognition from Jim Patterson (Fresno Mayor) and Jim Costa (California Senator). When coming to his education, he is a proud cum laude graduate of the School of Communications at Howard University.
During his leisure time, he likes to golf, explore the outdoors skydive, climb rocks, bodysurf, rollerblade, and play various local organized sports such as softball, volleyball, and football. Crumpton is also a self-described snowboarding freak and a percussionist who writes poetry “when inspired!”

In early 2013, Crumpton got arrested by Lakewood police after ‘allegedly’ driving drunk on a Friday night. He was charged with Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated (OVI). According to the reports of the police, his SUV car was seen veering across Detroit Avenue around 10:30 PM. He failed to use a turn signal before heading south on Orchard Grove Lane and failed to halt before entering the intersection.
One police stated that he could smell a strong smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from his mouth breath, he had glassy eyes, and his speech was slurred slightly. Ultimately, Crumpton had to get out of the car for a sobriety test and was asked to step heel to toe and stand on one leg. Crumpton however scheduled to appear in court and he was forgiven after repeatedly apologizing.
