Kent Boughton Biography

Kent Boughton is an American Meteorologist/Editor working with KFXL/KHGI News where he serves the station as a Chief Forecaster/Outdoor Editor. He has been working with the Nebraska Television(NTV) Network since the month of August 1999. 

Kent Boughton Career

Boughton works with NTV where he serves the station as a Chief Forecaster/Outdoor Editor. He began his broadcasting career working as a disc jockey in June 1972. Then, he was working for KRGI AM in Grand Island. Boughton is a proud graduate of Brown College located in Minneapolis where he obtained a degree in Broadcasting.

Upon his graduation from college, he went on to join KXON-TV located in Mithell, South Dakota where he kick-started his career working as a Lead Forecaster and Sports Director. He went on-air for the first time anchoring both weather and sports on the 9th of May 1977.

He was also a Weather and Sports Anchor at KIFI-TV 8 in Idaho Falls, Idaho prior to returning home to Nebraska as the Weather Director/Outdoor Editor for KHAS-TV Channel 5 Hastings. Leaving broadcasting for a while to see his kids grow up Kent was a certified LUTCF insurance agent for Primark Inc. and Rural Mail Carrier in Grand Island. In 1999 Boughton returned to television at NTV/KFXL FOX Nebraska and is the Chief Forecaster/Outdoor Editor.

Later on, after leaving for a while to see his kids growing up, he was working as a LUTCF insurance agent for Primark Inc. and Rural Mail Carrier in Grand Island. The year 1999 saw him return to television at NTV/KFXL FOX Nebraska. There, she was working as the Chief Forecaster/Outdoor Editor.

Boughton is an avid outdoorsman, 24-year National Wild Turkey Federation Nebraska State Board Member, and 2-term President who has received several prestigious awards including Field & Stream Magazines Hero’s Of Conservation. He is also the Pheasants Forever & Ducks Unlimited Conservationist of the Year, Safari Club International Educator of the Year award, and Hunter Education Instructor, to name just but a few.

He remains active by announcing many events despite a near-fatal car accident in 2009. This, include conservation banquets, public speaking, and the Harvest of Harmony Stadium Band Competition. He is also a past Grand Marshall for Harvest of Harmony. Among his hobbies include hunting, singing, collecting antique beer cans, fishing, and playing with his grandkids and dogs.
