Kirk Yuhnke is an American journalist working for FOX 31 Denver as a weekday morning anchor on FOX31 Morning News since joining the station in April 2013. Previously, he worked as a morning anchor for ABC15 Daybreak and a technology reporter at KNXV ABC15 News in Phoenix, Arizona, for 3 years.

Born in Buffalo, he relocated to the suburbs of Cleveland with his family while in high school. He and his family loved to be outdoors, skiing and sledding, until their fingers and faces started going numb during cold weather. His interest in broadcasting began when he drove his parents nuts with a Mr. Microphone. While in high school, he operated the PA for the morning announcements and performed on stage in theater.
After graduating from college, Yuhnke landed his first job in Michigan, where he was an anchor and reporter in Lansing and Flint. He then moved to Salt Lake City, where he worked as a morning anchor and reporter for 3 years. Further, he switched his skis for sunscreen, moving to Phoenix for a spot on the morning anchor desk.
During his career, Yuhnke has broadcast many news stories over the past 15 years. However, he will always remember when the northeast went dark in 2003, going to the East Coast to cover Hurricane Sandy, and when six miners got trapped in a mine in Utah. He has received many awards for his journalism, including an Emmy for his work anchoring breaking news coverage in 2009, as well as a nomination for an Emmy for best anchor in Denver in 2012.
Yuhnke loves being involved with the community, especially his work with the American Heart Association and Children’s hospitals hit close to home, as he is a father of three. His daughter was born with a congenital heart defect in 2010 and underwent surgery at the Children’s Hospital in Phoenix. Thus, he has a passion for raising awareness about congenital heart defects.
