Kristine Uyeno Biography

Kristine Uyeno is an American news anchor for KHON2 News. She joined the Wake-Up 2day team as an anchor in July 2016 after reporting for four years at KHON2.

She attended Waipahu High School where she got hooked on journalism as a student, writing for the school newspaper. “I loved meeting and talking to new people and hearing their stories. I still do!” Uyeno says. She then attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa where she graduated and worked as an anchor and reporter in Bozeman, Mont., Seattle, and Las Vegas before going back to Honolulu.

“It’s not easy waking up at 1:30 a.m., but I laugh really hard every morning with my co-workers,” Uyeno says. “Then, when I’m done with my shift, I get the whole day to spend doing things I couldn’t do before, like hiking and going to my son’s volleyball games.” During her free time, she loves being surrounded by friends and family, “and, of course, eating!”
