Kurt Pegler is an American Sports Reporter working for WMBD-TV in Peoria serving as a sports director. Previously, he worked as a reporter at the same station where he has been working since he joined in 1987.

As a reporter, Kurt has covered major sports news including NASCAR races, the NCAA Final Four, NBA, LPGA Tour events, NHL games, and NFL.
While still working as a sports director, Pegler also serves as a play-by-play for a local TV in Missouri Valley where he has been covering the women’s and men’s basketball games. He has been with the station for more than three decades since he joined in 1993. Besides this, Kurt also reports the news to the Illinois High School Association TV network where he reports the girl and boys basketball finals.
Throughout his career, Pegler has been honored with various awards including three consecutive awards in 2004, 2003, and 1994. He was also nominated by the Illinois Broadcasters Association for the best downstate sportscast award every year since 1993.
Aside from working as a journalist, Pegler is also an active community member where he works with various charitable organizations. Some of the organizations include the area Operation Christmas Child committee and the Peoria Leadership Prayer Breakfast committee. In addition to this, he also serves as a master of ceremonies, a reader to elementary school students, and a speaker of church groups. Pegler has presented various organizations including Easter Seals telethons and Muscular Dystrophy Association for WMBD 31.
