LaRoyce Hawkins is an American actor, stand-up comic, spoken word artist, and musician well known for his roles on NBC’s police drama Chicago P.D. and on the crossover show Chicago Fire. Hawkins attended Thornton High School where he played basketball.

Hawkins attended Thornton High School where he played basketball. Hawkins left the basketball team for a year and joined the speech team where his grandfather was told: “to choose what will enable you to feel better.” He was the third to comedy for the state IHSA Competition, in which he and a partner also won the state title in 2006, in the Humorous Duet Acting, while Hawkins also ranked fourth that year in the Original Comedy. In 2005, he won the title of the state at the Original Comedy event of the Illinois High School Association.

Hawkins studied full scholastic study at Illinois State University and graduated in theater arts. In his first college play, he played Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom in August as Toledo. While he was at college, he took on his first major role in the film The Express: The Ernie Davis Story, Ernie Davis’s biopic, which depicts Davis’ Art Baker team-mate. He is a fellow of the Brotherhood of Omega Psi Phi. Before Chicago P.D., Hawkin appeared in several TV series, including Ballers’ HBO, Payne’s Tyler Perry House on TBS, the Underemployed on MTV, and Detroit 1-8-7 on ABC.
