Larry Barker is an American reporter working for KRQE News 13 as an investigative reporter. Before joining the station in 2004, he worked as a radio broadcaster in Albuquerque.

After completing high school, Larry attended Prescott College where he graduated with a degree in Journalism. Currently, he serves as an investigative reporter at KRQE News 13 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has been with the station for over twenty years since joining in 2004. During his time there, he has covered major breaking news which has led to changes in laws and uncovered corruption.
Larry has also traveled to various countries and has reported numerous stories such as the tracking of fugitive spies to Moscow, uncovering hijackers hiding in Cuba, and stories in the Bahamas and the Persian Gulf. For his outstanding work, Barker was awarded dozens of awards like four Best of the West awards, five regional Edward R. Murrow awards, and thirty-one Emmys awards.
In 2002, Larry was honored by the Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences with the prestigious Silver Circle Award. Some organizations that honored him include the New Mexico Associated Press Broadcasters and the Radio and Television News Directors Association.
Larry began his professional career as a radio broadcaster in Albuquerque in 1975. Later on, he moved and worked as a newspaper writer in Prescott, Arizona. As a writer, he covered various news including corruption, crime, and trials. Before that, Barker worked with the United States Senate as a staff assistant. Aside from working as a journalist, he was also a co-founder of the ground-breaking “Target 7” team.
