Larry Richert Biography

Larry Richert is an eminent American Journalist working as a Morning Host at KDKA Radio. He joined KDKA Radio in 2001. He has also worked at KDKA-TV as a Contributor.

Larry Richert Education

He received his education at North Allegheny Senior High School from 1973 to 1976. After high school, he attended PennWest Clarion from 1977 to 1981 where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Communications. There, he worked in several radio shows on WCUC and WWCH. Also, he was the announcer for Clarion football.

He works for Newsradio 1020 KDKA as a Host of KDKA Radio Morning News. He joined KDKA Radio in 2001 and has been working there ever since. Since September 11, 2001, he has hosted the KDKA Radio Morning News on the world’s first commercial radio station. The KDKA Morning News can be heard weekdays from 6-9 AM hosted by Larry Richert and John Shumway. Since December 1979, he has been in the Richert Voice Productions where he does voice-over imaging and commercial endorsement. Since 2002, he has been an Honorary Chairman of Celebrity Golf Events for the American Cancer Society.

From November 1988 to July 2014, he worked for KDKA-TV as a host of “Wake Up with Larry Richert, a half-hour morning show that aired from 6:30 to 7 a.m. There, he was on the morning show for four years before moving to KDKA’s “Live at 5” program. In July 1995, he moved to another new position where he provided forecasts for KDKA’s 5, 6, and 11 p.m. news broadcasts. Together with friend John Mowod, he co-wrote a movie screenplay, Amazing Racer which completed production in 2012.
