Lisa Teachman Biography

Lisa Teachman is an American Emmy Award-winning meteorologist working for KSN as the chief meteorologist for the Track 3 Weather Team. She joined KSN-TV in 1996 as a meteorology intern. 

The Wichita suburb of Haysville, Mississippi is her native home and she is happy to return to her hometown. She started her broadcasting career at  KSNW-TV in 1996 as a meteorology intern under the leadership of the former Chief Meteorologist, Dave Freeman who retired in May 2017. After she had graduated from Wichita State University and Mississippi State University, she worked in Kansas City, Missouri, Huntington, West Virginia, and Baltimore, Maryland.

She was recognized in 2018, as the best weathercast in Wichita by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters. Teachman has also received the Seal of Approval of the American Meteorological Society. Lisa has served as a professional broadcast journalist for almost 20 years including 10 years of forecasting severe weather in Missouri and Kansas. Teachman reported live from Joplin in 2011, hours following the catastrophic EF5 tornado that struck the city, and in 2012, she witnessed her first tornado in Moundridge, Kansas.

In addition, her passion and love for meteorology started when she was a youth as her father is a Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service volunteer who assists in emergency communications for Sedgwick County. In 1991 and 1999, their hometown was hit by devastating tornadoes. During her leisure time, she enjoys eating as much BBQ as she can, loves listening to country music, and walking her 3 dogs together with her husband.
