Lori Stokes is a retired American journalist who previously for FOX 5 New York as an evening news anchor at 5, 6, and 10 p.m. Before that role, she worked as a co-host of Good Day New York. She joined the station in 2017 and aired her last newscast on the station on September 30, 2022, and retired from her broadcasting career that same day after working in the industry for more than 40 years.

Lori began her career as a medical reporter and then weekend co-anchor at WCIA in 1986. In 1998, she worked as a reporter and weekend anchor for WBTV. For two years there, she became popular with the viewers in that state. Her next stop was as a crime and street reporter for WBFF-TV. From 1992 to 1996, she was a full-time anchor as WJLA-TV’s lead female anchor of the 6 pm and 11 pm. Then she went on to MSNBC at the time of its inception. She was one of the original anchors on the 24-hour cable news television channel. During her tenure at the cable TV station, she covered the Columbine High School Massacre and the death of John F. Kennedy Jr. in 1999.

On September 30, 2022, she retired from broadcasting.

Prior to joining FOX 5 New York, she worked at WABC for seventeen years. Before that, she worked at MSNBC/NBC. In her career, she has reported some of the biggest stories, from 9/11, John F. Kennedy Jr.’s death, the Boston Marathon bombing, the Columbine and Newtown massacres, the Blackout of 2003, and Hurricanes Sandy and Hugo. Because of her September 11, 2001 coverage of the World Trade Centre attack, she was honored with the George P. Foster Peabody Award and received the 2003 Congressional Black Caucus Celebration of Leadership Award.
