Luke Thompson is a British actor who is famous for starring in TV series such as Bridgerton and In the Club. For his performance, he has been honored with various awards such as the Laurence Olivier Award and the WhatsOnStage Award.

Thompson went to school at Lycée International François-Ier in Fontainebleau from 1997 to 2005. After high school, he enrolled at Bristol University where he learned drama and English. She also received training from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London in 2013.

Thompson started his career in a short comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream where he played as a Lysander at the Globe Theatre. For his performance in comedy, he was honored with an Ian Charleson Award and an Evening Standard Theatre Award. After that, Luke appeared as Will Bennett in the Globe productions of Blue Stockings. In 2017, he was featured in Tiger Country film as a James at the Almeida Theatre and Hampstead Theatre.

His breakthrough came in 2018, when Thompson was cast in Ian McKellen’s film King Lear where he replaced Jonathan Bailey in his role. That same year, he went on and join a musical Company where he worked for several years. Later on, he appeared in the BBC One drama In the Club where he played from 2014 to 2016. After that, Luke appeared in another TV series Christmas Eve, which was an adaptation of Frederick Forsyth’s novella The Shepherd.

From there, Thompson appeared in a World War II film Dunkirk which portrayed a role as a warrant officer. He was also featured in the film Misbehaviour where he played as Peter Hain. His popularity increased in 2020 after he starred in the Shondaland-produced Netflix series Bridgerton. There, he portrayed the character role of Benedict, the second eldest child in the Bridgerton family.

Following his success, Luke was cast in an English film A Little Life, which started in March 2023 at the Richmond Theatre. For his performance in the drama, he was awarded two awards including the Laurence Olivier Award and the WhatsOnStage Award. On top of this, he also appeared as Hiram Bingham IV in the Netflix series Transatlantic. As of 2024, Thompson is expected to appear in a love drama Love’s Labour’s Lost which with happen in the Royal Shakespeare Company production.
