Lydia Blackstone is an American journalist working for WJCL as a weekend morning news anchor and reporter since she was promoted in July 2024. She joined the station in May 2023 as a reporter. Previously, she worked for Carolina News and the Reporter as a broadcast journalist

Lydia Blackstone Education

Blackstone joined the University of South Carolina in 2019 after her studies at Spartanburg High School. In 2023, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. During her time in college, she was the lead reporter for Student Gamecock Television (SGTV).

While at SGTV, Blackstone was promoted to news director and finished her tenure there as an assistant station manager. She served WUSC FM Columbia as a radio host of “Politically Inclined.” Moreover, she was a governmental relations coordinator for Sweatman Strategies, LLC.
