Lyriq Bent is a Jamaican-Canadian actor known for his roles in the Saw films, the television series Rookie Blue, and The Book of Negroes. Bent appeared in the Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It, based on the film of the same name.
Lyriq Bent Career
Since his acting career in the early 2000s, Bent has played numerous leading and supporting roles in film and television. He appeared on Kevin Hill’s UPN season, opposite Taye Diggs, and the USA Network’s Kojak, facing Ving Rhames before he became co-staggered in Angela’s Eyes’ drama.
Playback Magazine mentioned him as one of Canada’s highest rising stars after featuring on various television shows.
When he was part of the hit horror movies Saw II and Saw III as Officer Daniel Rigg, Bent gained further attention. He later became one of the main features of Saw IV. In the Canadian TV series Rookie Blue, he co-starred from 2010–2014, depicting Staff Sergeant Frank Best.
Due to Lawrence Hill’s bestselling novel, Bent depicted Chekura Tianos in 2015 in the TV miniature series The Book of Negroes. Bent won the Best Actor Award at the Canadian Screen Awards in 2016 for that role as the leading dramatic actor.
