Maggie Wade(Magnolia Wade) is an American journalist working for WLBT FOX40 as a news co-anchor at 5, 6, and 10 p.m. broadcasting stories on education, and children’s issues. Since joining the station, she has worked in various roles including weekend weather anchor, news reporter, coordinator, and producer of children’s programming.

Wade joined Jackson State University when she finished her studies at Hinds County Public Schools and Utica High School. However, she later transferred to Mississippi College when she was a sophomore to pursue a career in Corporate Law. However, she discovered her ability in radio while there when she served the school radio station, WHJT-FM. WJDX-MISS 103 later hired her as a marketing researcher, radio announcer, and weekend news anchor. As a senior in college, she served WLBT.

She serves on many boards including the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi, the Salvation Army, Merit Health River Oaks Hospital, and Mississippi Blood Services. She serves Southern Christian Services for Children and Youth on its advisory board.

In January 2008, she was chosen to chair the National Children’s Study Community Advisory Board at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. The National Institutes of Health chose her and 10 other individuals to serve on the National Steering Committee for the National Children’s Study in February 2011. She serves as a member of the Mississippi Association of Public Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

During her career, Wade has received numerous awards and honors for her work in the community and journalism field. In May 2017, Belhaven University in Humanities granted her an Honorary Doctorate. She discovered her ability in radio while she was at Mississippi College. She won the Woman of the Year Award from the Mississippi Commission on the Status of Women in 2014. In 2011, she received recognition from the United States Congress in October 2011 as an Angel In Adoption for her work on Wednesday’s Child. She also received the award in September 2001 for featuring foster children in the state who needed permanent homes.

Catholic Charities have also recognized her for her support.

The Mississippi Business Journal gave her its Top 40 under 40 Business Award. The Mississippi Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized her as an Outstanding Young Mississippian. Also, she was inducted into its Mississippi Families Hall of Fame. For her devotion and support of families and children in Mississippi, she won the Mississippi Families’ Legends for Children award.

She has also received recognition from the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters, the Jackson Association of Black Journalists, and the Associated Press. For nine consecutive years, she won the Jackson Free Press Best News Anchor Award. In 2007, she was chosen as the Best Media Personality in the Best of Mississippi article Category in the July/August issue of Mississippi Magazine.

For her work with children, she has won a couple of awards. For instance, the Girl Scouts recognized her as a Woman of Distinction in 2005. The Mississippi Religious Leadership Conference gave her the Founders’ Memorial Award on January 23, 2007.
