Mark S. Allen Drunk driving arrests
Allen was pulled over near the Sacramento International Airport by Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies in late 2006. They eventually arrested him for driving under the influence. As a result, KMAX suspended him from “Good Day Sacramento” as the case proceeded through the court system. He agreed to a guilty plea to a single misdemeanor count of DUI. In this capacity, he was on probation for three years and did community service as part of his sentence. A short while after, KMAX reinstated him, and he talked about his arrest during a “Good Day Sacramento” broadcast. During the broadcast, he shared that he was dining with friends and believed he was sober enough to drive home.
Allen was charged with another driving under the influence in December 2015. The police reportedly found him parked on a side street in historic Roseville and later booked him into the Placer County Jail on DUI-related charges. KMAX did not state his arrest until the Sacramento News & Reviews newspaper published a story about it. He left KMAX-TV the following March after pleading no contest to DUI. In this capacity, he paid multiple thousands of dollars in fines and went to mandatory alcohol addiction treatment classes. Every year on the anniversary of his arrest, he does a live televised ride-along with his arresting officer to promote sober driving.
