Matt Austin is a well-known American anchor working for WKMG where he serves as the station’s evening anchor at 4, 5, 6, and 11 pm. He joined the station in June 2011. He first joined the station as a morning news co-anchor and in December 2013, he was promoted to evening anchor. Matt has covered some of Central Florida’s biggest stories and has interviewed some of the most inspiring neighbors. He is the inventor of a Nasty Karate Chop, Inspired by Jesus, a Mediocre Dancer.

Moreover, his reporting has helped change the state of Florida. In 2019, he helped change Florida law which previously kept law enforcement from pulling over texting drivers.

He says his goal is to give people a reliable and relatable experience when they watch the news. Prior to working at WKMG, he worked for Sinclair Broadcast Group as a morning anchor from December 2006 to June 2011. From 2001 to 2003, he worked as a morning anchor at KIFI.
