Matthew Cappucci is a prominent American Atmospheric Scientist and Meteorologist working for FOX 5 DC. There, he serves as the station’s Freelance Meteorologist and joined the station in June 2021. Recently, he was named the FLASH 2023 national weatherperson of the year. He is an avid storm chaser, world traveler, and adventurer. In his carer, he has chased more than a dozen tornadoes, stood in the eye of a hurricane, flown beneath the northern lights, and driven a U-Haul van through the Arctic tundra.

In addition to working at FOX 5 DC, he can be found working for The Washington Post, WAMU of MyRadar, or working as an educational consultant or teaching public speaking classes on the side.

Also, he can be regularly heard on KSRO and on SiriusXM’s “Absolutely Mindy Show”, a popular radio program for kids.
