He, later on, joined Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois where he attained his Bachelor of Science in Journalism. During his college experience as a student at the Brookhaven National Laboratory Public Relations Office on Long Island, he published the Brookhaven Newsletter, an employee’s publication, in 1984 and 1985.

DuBois previously worked at WNBC-TV where he served as an anchor from 1997 to 2004. Prior to that, he worked at WFLD-TV where he served as an anchor and reporter from 1994 to 1997 in Greater Chicago. Before that, he worked at KCRA-TV where he served as an anchor as well as a reporter from 1990 to 1994 in Sacramento, California. Prior to that, he worked at KING-TV where he served as a reporter, production assistant, and associate producer from 1987 to 1990 in Seattle, WA.

DuBois has also managed to win several awards ever since he started his journalism career including five Emmy Awards. He is also a recipient of the New York State Broadcasters Association, The Associated Press, and The New York Association of Black Journalists. In addition to that, he is also active when it comes to helping out in the community. She works at the non-profit board of NY City Center, Susan G. Komen for the Cure/NYC, previously served at PENCIL, and The Northside Center for Child Development.
