McKenzie Nelson is an American journalist working for KSHB as a sports anchor and multimedia journalist since joining the station in May 2017. Previously, she worked for KSHL/KNVN in Chico, California, for a year.
McKenzie Nelson Education
Nelson joined Johnson County Community College in 2010 after finishing her high school education. She obtained an Associate’s degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies in 2011 and transferred to Southeast Missouri State University the following year. In 2014, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications: TV/Film. While in college, she interned at WREG in Memphis and WDAF in Kansas City.

Before moving to Chico, Nelson worked as a weekend anchor, reporter, and producer at KEVN in Rapid City, San Diego, for 2 years. She also hosted “FOX Weekend Spotlight.” Over the course of her career, she has earned a Mid-America Regional Emmy for her live reports in Kansas City. She also feels blessed to have broadcast several Super Bowls, NCAA Tournaments, and an NFL Draft.
