Micaela Dea is an American journalist working for KAKE as the sports director since she was promoted in June 2024. She joined the station in August 2022 as a sports anchor and reporter. Previously, she worked as a sports reporter and anchor for News-Press Now in St. Joseph for 3 years.

Dea joined the University of Missouri School of Journalism in 2015 after finishing her education at Cathedral Catholic High School. In 2019, she graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism in Sports Broadcasting. During her time in college, she served KOMU in Columbia, Missouri for all four years.

Also, she was involved with their emphasis on the Kansas City Chiefs broadcast and their two (almost three) Super Bowl appearances. She spent three seasons covering Northwest Missouri State basketball, including two of their national championships.
Dea has always known that she wanted to work in sports since her childhood, and it hasn’t changed since. She grew up with a love for writing and was involved with her high school newspaper. During her senior year, she was promoted to the sports editor and first female sports anchor for her high school’s weekly TV show.
