Michael Behrens Biography
Michael Behrens is an American meteorologist working for WBNS 10 News as the weekend evening meteorologist since joining the 10 Weather Impact team in February 2024. Previously, he worked as a weekend evening meteorologist at 10TV’s sister station, WZZM 13 On Your Side, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for four years.

Behrens joined Ball State University in August 2011 after finishing his studies at Western Boone Jr-Sr High School. In May 2016, he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology and Geographic Information Sciences with a minor in Telecommunications, including a concentration in Professional Track Meteorology.
During his time in college, Behrens worked as an intern at the then-CBS affiliate WISH-TV in Indianapolis in the summer of 2014. He also worked as a student volunteer at the National Weather Service office in Indianapolis during the summer of 2015. Moreover, he was heavily involved with Ball State’s student media. In this capacity, he worked as an assistant general manager, technical operations director, producer, reporter, forecaster, and chief weather forecaster for WCRD 91.3 FM, the student radio station.
Behrens worked as a producer, forecaster, and chief weather forecaster for NewsLink Indiana, Ball State’s nightly TV newscast. Additionally, he served as a member of the Ball State Storm Chase Team for his entire time at the university. There, he was involved in several storm chase events and gained his HAM radio license.
Behrens’s work at the college was acknowledged by multiple scholarships and awards, including the Society of Professional Journalism Best TV Newscast Award and the David L. Odom Outstanding Service in Meteorology and Climatology Award.

Behrens works for WBNS 10 News as the weekend evening meteorologist. He has a lifelong passion for learning about, predicting, and communicating about the weather. His eyes have always been on the sky, from being scared of storms as a child to chasing them as an adult.
Behrens began working in local TV around the Midwest in late 2012 when he joined the ABC 21 Alive (WPTA-TV) weather team in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He worked there as a weather specialist for three years, substituting as needed. He also broadcast massive winter storms and severe weather. Moreover, he forecasted the weather for NBC 33 (WISE-TV) in Fort Wayne and My TV20 (WMYD-TV) in Detroit, Michigan.
Behrens recently worked for 10TV’s sister station, WZZM 13 On Your Side, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for four years. There, he forecasted everything, including blizzards, tornadoes, ice storms, and flooding. Frequently, he spoke with local schools about science and weather and hosted community events all over the area. Besides his forecasting work, he also flew drones for the station or ran their TV news trucks. He won an Emmy, several Michigan Association of Broadcasters awards, and several Emmy nominations while working in Grand Rapids.
Behrens worked for KYTX CBS 19 in Tyler, Texas, as a weekday morning meteorologist. There, she broadcast hours of severe weather in one of the most active severe weather regions in the nation. Before moving to Tyler, he worked in Saginaw, Michigan, at CBS affiliate WNEM-TV 5. He also worked with the then-CBS affiliate WISH-TV in Indianapolis, where he was intern while in college.
When not on TV, Michael is known to be an avid video gamer and DIY project enthusiast. Michael is also a big fan of baseball. The St. Louis Cardinals are his favorite team.
