Michael Seger Biography
Michael Seger is an American journalist working for KJRH as the Chief Meteorologist since he was promoted in the Spring of 2024. He joined the station in April 2022 as a weekday morning meteorologist for Storm Chaser 2News Oklahoma. Previously, he worked for KOKI-TV FOX23 News in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as a meteorologist for 14 years.
Michael Seger Education
Seger joined the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah after finishing his high school education. In 1999, he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Computer Art. There, he was involved with the Men’s Tennis Team.
Seger later joined Valparaiso University (Indiana), where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Meteorology. During his career at Valparaiso, Seger was involved with the American Meteorological Society Valpo Chapter, NW Indiana National Weather Association, St. Teresa of Avila Student Choir, and Valparaiso University Storm Intercept Team. Also, he worked with the university storm chase team and was an intern under renown Chicago meteorologist Tom Skilling.

Seger has worked for KJRH as the Chief Meteorologist since he was promoted in the Spring of 2024. In this role, he analyzes, forecasts, produces, and presents the weather for the 5, 6, and 10 p.m. newscasts every weekday. He also manages the team of meteorologists and leads the station’s severe weather coverage. Upon joining the station, he worked as a weekday morning meteorologist for Storm Chaser 2News Oklahoma.
Seger is an avid storm chaser and storm photographer who holds the Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association. His passion for the weather and meteorology began when he was a young child growing up in rural southern Indiana. He regularly watched storms from his bedroom window facing west. While in high school, he was stuck between pursuing art and meteorology. He accepted an art scholarship to the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah.
After graduation, Seger freelanced in Savannah, but his art career never took off. He then moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he was a doorman at an upscale beachfront resort. He found the job unique and fun, crediting the job for helping him to have the courage to pursue a career in broadcast meteorology.
Seger started his broadcast meteorology career in Tornado Alley, where he has felt at home since 2005. He has worked as a weather forecaster in Tulsa and Green Country since 2008. He has also won three Emmy Awards. Moreover, he worked with a team that won the National Murrow Award for broadcast of the Newcastle/OKC/Moore EF-5 tornado in 2013.
