Mike Armstrong Biography

Mike Armstrong is a Canadian correspondent working at Global National. He has been serving as Quebec national correspondent since he joined the station in September 2001. In addition, he was among the original cast of characters when Global opened its station in Quebec in September of 1997.

While serving as a national correspondent for Quebec, he has covered stories in every corner of the province from elections, floods, referendums, and riots. He has also been beyond Quebec to cover a number of the largest stories of this generation including; the Afghanistan war,  the earthquake in Haiti, Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf, and the tsunami in Indonesia.

In addition, he stated that he was privileged to report from each and every single province in Canada which is an accomplishment that was a result of the fulfillment of a cross-country road trip he made during the 2011 federal election campaign. Furthermore, in 1997 the Quebec ice storm was one of his career highlights as he was sent out to cover how families were managing the situation at hand. Armstrong met a couple who were in their late 80s and actually did not want to leave their home. His story won a national award however, what actually made it special is the fact that the 80 years old couple were his grandparents.
