Mike Drolet is a Canadian correspondent who is working at Global News. He serves as the Toronto Correspondent for the station and his job has taken him far from the borders of the Greater Toronto Area.

Drolet is a correspondent working at Global News. Drolet has covered fires and floods in the provinces, Canadian soldiers on the front lines in Afghanistan, and Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath in New Orleans for the past 12 years in newsrooms across southern Ontario and Quebec. He relocated to Wingham, then to Windsor, Montreal, and now Toronto after he had completed his studies at the University of Western Ontario, In addition, he has reported on natural disasters including the Moore, Okla. tornado in 2013 and the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.

In addition,  he enlightened the public on the devastating train derailment in Lac-Mégantic and the circus that ensued when Rob Ford finally admitted to smoking crack cocaine. His most moving coverage was of the shooting of Sandy Hook in Newtown, Connecticut at an Elementary School just three months after the birth of his daughter. Despite the fact that he has covered innumerable heartbreaking news stories, he states that the incident in Connecticut was the most difficult for him.

Not long ago, he was present when Canadians expressed shock at the unprecedented attack on Parliament in Ottawa that left two dead, many in lockdown, and heightened security across the country. Furthermore, he followed the story to Hamilton where he covered the funeral and cross-province procession. Soon after. he returned to Toronto where he covered the mayoral election in 2014.

In 1990, he attended Western University where he studied English, French, and Journalism, and graduated in 1994. During his free time, he enjoys traveling, reading, hockey, snowboarding, and spending ample time with his two-year-old girl.
