Mike Hydeck Biography
Mike Hydeck is an American journalist who serves as an evening anchor for WVIT (NBC CT NEWS) at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. alongside co-anchor Keisha Grant and chief alert meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan. He also serves as an anchor and producer for Face the Facts, a Sunday morning discussion, and public affairs program.
Hydeck films and produces the children’s programming segments for Kids Connection. He also fills in as a sports anchor and producer. He volunteers with Friends of the National World War II Memorial.

Hydeck attended Masuk High School, Monroe CT from 1983 to 1987. He later joined the University of Connecticut in 1987. He pursued a BA, Communications-Journalism and graduated in 1992.

Hydeck began his television career in 1996 as a news anchor and reporter for WCYB-TV in Bristol, Virginia, United States. He anchored weekend newscasts and reported daily news stories. Hydeck co-produced and wrote newscasts, shot videos, and wrote and edited stories. He also served as a fill-in weather anchor and fill-in sports anchor. Mike left the station in 1999 and has also served as the weekend newsroom supervisor and assignment editor.
Hydeck joined WLOS-TV in 1999 in Asheville, North Carolina where he serves as a news anchor and reporter. He anchored the 5:30 newscast and also reported daily news stories for 11 pm news. He also presented both live and taped reports until his departure in 2003.
In 2003, Mike joined WBZ-TV in Boston, Massachusetts as a news anchor and reporter. He anchored the weekend morning and evening newscasts. Mike served as a general assignment reporter covering the Boston Marathon and also Democratic National Convention. He also field anchored Victory Parades for New England Patriot Superbowl Wins and the 2004 Red Sox World Series Championship Parade. Hydeck left WBZ-TV in 2006.
In September 2006, Hydeck joined WFSB-TV in Hartford, Connecticut as a news anchor. He anchored morning news and reported from the field until his departure in October 2010. In the same month, he joined WUSA in Washington, D.C. as a morning anchor and reporter. He anchor weekday morning news from 4:25 am to 7:00 am. At the station, he produced and anchored special events and sports coverage including The National Marathon, PGA Tour (ATT National), MLB (Washington Nationals), National Cherry Blossom Parade, and 2013 and 2017 Presidential Inaugurations.
