Mike Mibach Biography

Mike Mibach is an American news anchor working for KTVU News in San Francisco where he anchors the 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. hours, KTVU FOX 2 News at Noon and report on a number of special projects. He joined the station in March 2002.

Mike Mibach Education

Mibach attended high school at St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco. He then went to the College of Marin for a few years but later transferred to the University of Colorado at Boulder where he studied broadcast news. He applied for J-school twice and was denied both times but he did not lose hope, Sure enough, the third time was the Charm. He studied and graduated in May 2000.

Mibach anchors the 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. hours, and KTVU FOX 2 News at Noon. He started his broadcast career at WIBW in Topeka, Kansas. Because he did not have much experience the news director Jon Janes started him off as a photographer then over the weeks and months he would teach me about reporting. It gave him a lot of knowledge and exposure.

After Topeka, Mike landed a job at KVOA in Tucson, Arizona serving as a reporter, he worked his way up till he had the opportunity to anchor the weekend evening newscasts. In 2005 Mike was offered a job at KTVU as a general assignment reporter from Wednesday to Sunday. While there he helped launch Mornings on 2 Saturday and Sunday, co-anchoring with Claudine Wong. Some years later he also helped launch the 9 a.m. newscast, The Nine, and also KTVU FOX 2 News at 4.
