Mike Richards Biography

Mike Richards is an American Television personality, game show host, and producer who is best known for succeeding Alex Trebek as host of the daily syndicated show Jeopardy! starting with its 38th season in September 2021.

Mike Richards Career

Richards has produced numerous game shows, including Weakest Link, and was the second host of Beauty and the Geek. He was the executive producer of The Price Is Right and Let’s Make a Deal until the end of the 2018–19 season. He hosted GSN’s 2017–18 version of Divided and the 2012 revival of The Pyramid. In 2019, he left both shows.

Richards then joined Sony Pictures Television, where he was assigned to be an executive producer for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire alongside Michael Davies and host Jimmy Kimmel for the nine-episode first season of the show during the 2019–20 season. He succeeded the retiring Harry Friedman as executive producer of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! for the 2020–21 season. When it comes to his education, Richards attended and graduated from Pepperdine University in California.

On August 11, 2021, it was announced that Richards will succeed Alex Trebek as host of the daily show, Jeopardy! with guest host Mayim Bialik hosting future primetime specials and spinoffs. This comes following the death of legendary ‘Jeopardy!’ king Alex Trebek, who succumbed to pancreatic cancer last November aged 80. After Alex Trebek died in 2020, Richards appeared at the start of the November 9, 2020 episode to pay tribute to him. Later he filled in for two weeks as a guest host of the show, his first episode airing on February 22, 2021.
