Mike Seidel Biography
Mike Seidel is an American meteorologist working for The Weather Channel serving as an on-camera meteorologist as well as a field meteorologist. He joined the station back in 1992.

Seidel graduated from Salisbury State College with a double major in mathematics and geography. He attained his Master’s Degree in Meteorology at The Pennsylvania State University.
Mike Seidel Career
Seidel is a meteorologist who has managed to enclose different types of weather events ever since his career as a meteorologist began. He has also gone out on assignments at a moment’s notice to cover a variety of weather events for the American public. He has also produced over 21,000 live shots while covering weather live in 46 states since 1996. The states include Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Canada. He was the first U.S. meteorologist to report live from Cuba while covering Tropical Storm Isaac in 2012.
Seidel has also hosted some shows from 2002 to 2012 including the weekly ‘NFL Tailgate Forecasts’ from outdoor stadiums. He also covered the PGA Tour, NASCAR, the Indianapolis 500, the Winter X Games, and the Super Bowl. Seidel had also worked for other stations prior to joining The Weather Channel. Additionally, he has spent some time in NBC’s ‘The Today Show’ and ‘Nightly News’ where he was a reporter. He also spent some time working for MSNBC and CNBC and also appeared on CBS-TV’s ‘The Early Show, ‘The CBS Evening News.’ He also appeared on ‘CBS Sunday Morning’ and ABC-TV’s ‘Good Morning America’, ‘World News Tonight, ‘Nightline’ and ‘World News Now’ along with CNN and Fox News Channel.
Seidel’s career began in radio in 1973 where he served at four weather stations in DE and MD. He, later on, moved to television in 1980 at Salisbury’s WMDT-TV and was seen on Weather World on the Pennsylvania Public Television Network while attending Penn State. He landed his first full-time TV job in Greenville, SC at WYFF-TV where he served from 1983 to 1989. In 1989, he moved back to Salisbury and started working for WBOC-TV where he served as a chief meteorologist and served till 1992 when he joined The Weather Channel.

For instance, he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Department of Geography and Regional Planning at Salisbury State College in recognition of his outstanding support in 1994. Seidel was also invited to join the Obelisk Society in acknowledgment of his support of Penn State’s department of meteorology. He was named Centennial Fellow of The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at Penn State in 1996 in recognition of his achievements since graduation.
