Monica Gayle is an American television news anchor best known for her time at FOX 2. She retired on 25th March 2022 after serving the station for more than 2 decades. Further, she anchored the 5, 6, and 10 pm news on Detroit’s Fox 2 WJBK, where she has been since 1997. She and co-anchor, Huel Perkins, were one of the longest-running anchor teams in Metro Detroit.

Her work has taken her overseas to cover stories in England, Ireland, Russia, Bosnia, and Honduras.

She graduated with Honors in 1982 from Washington State University’s Edward R. Murrow College of Communication, with a B.A. in Communications. Gayle has been honored with several Awards: 5 Regional Emmy Awards; Operation Smile “Humanitarian of The Year” -2006 Favorite Story Covered: Operation Smile Mission to Honduras.

She spent a remarkable week in the Operating Room as doctors from around the world performed life-changing surgeries on children with cleft lip & palate. To see a child’s life literally transformed overnight, was truly profound and deeply moving for her.
