Nicole Griffin Biography
Nicole Griffin is an American journalist working for WRTV as an of the evening news at 5:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. and a co-anchor at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. She joined the station in April 2017 as a reporter for Good Morning Indiana. Previously, she worked for KOLN/KGIN as a multimedia journalist and producer.

Griffin joined Ball State University in 2008 when she finished her high school education at Ben Davis High School. In 2012, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications and Journalism. During her sophomore year in college, she spent time on the sidelines and was a cheerleader for the Ball State football and basketball teams. Also, she worked for Newslink Indiana as an anchor and reporter. While in high school, she broadcasted the FDIC conference at Wayne Township Fire Department.

In 2019, she was promoted to work as the weekend news anchor leading the broadcast of WRTV News 6 and 11 p.m.
In 2021, Griffin received an Emmy Best Weekend Newscast Award for broadcasting the social justice protests in 2020 after the death of Dreasjon Reed and George Floyd. During the fall of 2021, she was promoted to work as a co-anchor of the weekday evening newscasts. Following the pandemic, they anchored WRTV’s broadcast of Breakfast at the Brickyard at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2022. She prides herself on sharing stories that make a difference.
Griffin developed her passion for broadcast journalism during her time at the Area 31 Career Center’s BDTV program. After graduating college, she began her TV news career in Lincoln, Nebraska where she produced and edited a 2-hour morning show at KOLN/KGIN 1011 News. There, she climbed the ladder and eventually worked onscreen as a multimedia journalist broadcasting crime stories.
