Nicole Livas is an American journalist of African descent working for 13News Now as an evening anchor and special projects reporter. She joined the station in April 2019. Previously, she anchored, produced, and edited for Voice of America in Washington D.C. for 8 months.

Livas attended George Mason University after completing her high school education. When she finished her studies, she became a graduate and attained a Bachelor Of Arts degree in Speech Communication and Spanish.

Livas works for 13News Now as an evening anchor and special projects reporter. She joined the station in April 2019. Previously, she anchored, produced, and edited for Voice of America in Washington D.C. for 8 months. The Virginia Beach native’s initial TV-paying job was working as WVEC’s production assistant.
Before Washington, she worked in Norfolk for WAVY & WVBT as an evening anchor for a number of years. She has had stints at TV stations in Rhode Island and Ohio. An Emmy-nominated multimedia journalist, she broadcasted the September 11th terror attacks and the Virginia Tech shootings.
After the plane crash off Martha’s Vineyard, she was among the first reporters on the scene following the JFK. Additionally, she served as a feature story reporter that involved NCAA basketball, high school football, entertainment, and lifestyle news.
She has a passion for broadcasting stories that concentrate on financial, health, consumer, military, families, and education. Coastal Virginia Magazine’s readers have voted her best female newscaster a number of times.

The Virginia Association of Broadcasters and The Hampton Roads Black Media Professionals have recognized her for her work. She serves the Samaritan House and the Society of Professional Journalists, Virginia chapter on its board.
Livas serves the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at George Mason University on its advisory board. Giving birth to her daughter serves as her biggest achievement. Her father, Henry, retired from NASA-Langley and worked on the Virginia Beach Planning Commission. Unfortunately, he passed away. Her grandfather, Henry, served as an architecture teacher at Hampton University. Also, he founded a company in Norfolk.
On the other hand, her other grandfather, John Kerry, worked as a Physics teacher in high school. Further, he served as the initial African-American City Councilman in Virginia Beach. Both of her grandmothers worked as teachers. Additionally, she has two brothers and a sister.
