Nicole Shearin Biography

Nicole Shearin is an American journalist working for WBNS as a sports reporter and anchor since joining the station in July 2024. Previously, she worked in Waco, Texas, for 2 years.

Shearin joined the University of Georgia after finishing her high school education. In 2020, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Sports Broadcasting. She later joined the University of Southern California, where she obtained her Master’s in Broadcasting.

Shearin works for WBNS as a sports reporter and anchor. Since she was young, she has always dreamed of broadcasting big-time college sports, so moving to Buckeye Country just felt right. She looks forward to broadcasting all the sports in the region and enjoying the fantastic city of Columbus.

Previously, she worked in Waco, Texas, for 2 years. While in Waco, she broadcast everything Baylor athletics and spent Friday nights under the lights in Central Texas. The Manhattan Beach native played every sport possible while growing up, including volleyball, basketball, softball.

Shearin is a diehard Dawg fan who was always on a football Saturday, “Between the Hedges” at Sanford Stadium. In 2022, she witnessed the Dawgs take down the Tide for a National Championship in the house at Lucas Oil Stadium. She saw that moment again when the Dawgs went back-to-back in Los Angeles, her hometown.

Shearin enjoys storytelling above all else. One of her favorite stories was that of a father and son running back duo in Lorena, Texas. The father watched from the sideline as his son surpassed his rushing touchdown record in high school that he had set many years before. That story earned the Texas Broadcast News Best Sports Story of the Year Award. In 2024, she was also named the Best Sports Reporter and Best Sports Anchor in the Texas medium market category.
