The work girls, Flatliners, Beethoven, and The Three Musketeers were the first to appear in Platt. Two beat-up actors played in 1998 in The Impostors with Platt and Stanley Tucci, improvising with strangers. In 1999, in David E. Kelley’s Lake Placid, Platt played the rich and outstanding crocodile enthusiast, Hector. Platt’s first leading role in television was the short-lasting drama Deadline. In the Broadway revival of guys and dolls which started performances at the Nederlander Théater on February 3, 2009, and officially opened on March 1, 2009, Platt played as Nathan Detroit, alongside Lauren Graham as Miss Adelaide.
After 113 performances, the production closed on 14 June 2009. In Roland Emmerich’s 2012, Platt starred in a disaster film released on 13 November 2009 as Staff Chief Carl Anheuser. In the Harold Ramis Year One film released in 2009, Platt played the high priest. In August 2010, in 2011, X-Men: First Class, directed by Matthew Vaughn, he was cast in the role of “The Man in Black” In 2012, he performed with Hugh Laurie and Leighton Meester in the romantic comedy The Oranges and was featured in China’s Action Film Zodiac. In the 2013 animated film Dorothy of Oz, he provided Wiser the Owl’s voice. He has been featured in the supernatural 2016 thriller of Miramax, Louis Drax’s 9th Life.
