Pam Cook is an American journalist working as a Morning business reporter and news anchor at KTVU in Francisco, Bay Area. She has been working for the station since 1997.

Cook dreamed of becoming a journalist while she was in high school but her dad wanted her to engage in something more practical. After high school, she studied and graduated from the University of California in Los Angeles with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. As much as she loved economics studying what happens every day; supply and demand, spending, and how companies grow she also took journalism classes on the side. Cook used to also contribute to the school paper.

She later worked her way up to the trading floor of Montgomery Securities which was one of the leading West Coast Wall Street firms at the time

Five years later after stock marketing and investing, she realized that it was not enough for her. She printed her resume, ready to head out to the local stations in search of an internship. Cook wanted to tell real stories about real people and events.

She got lucky and a woman connected her to a manager at the local cable company and she landed her first television job field producing. Cook then became a reporter for some local cable shows, including ‘Inside City Limits,’ and ‘SF Politics.’ She also got to write, report and produce for a sister cable station across the Golden Gate Bridge called the Marin Report.

A while later as Cook was watching the Morning on 2 at KTVU, she noticed they needed a morning business reporter and after calling and bugging people enough she got an interview. She joined the station in 1997 and was first hired as a business reporter at KTVU, and when a position for an anchor opened up she was thrilled and it was the perfect fit for her.
