Patricia Heaton is an American Emmy award-winning actress, author, and comedian. She is known for playing the lead character and Ray Barone’s wife Debra Barone on the CBS television sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond.

Heaton attended St. Raphael’s Catholic Primary School in Bay Village, Ohio, and also graduated from Bay High School in Bay Village, Ohio in 1976. While attending Bay High School she sang in the choir, performed in the Stage Band, and was a member of the Rockettes Drill Team with the Bay Rockets’ Marching Band.

From there, she had to further her education. She joined Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. After completing her studies there, she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Drama in 1980.

She was brought up along with her three sisters, Sharon Heaton, Alice Heaton, and Frances Heaton, and a brother, Michael Heaton who writes columns for the Cleveland Plain Dealer under the heading of “Minister of Culture.” Heaton has English, German and Irish ancestry.

Her sister Sharon Heaton is a Dominican nun while her brother and father were writers for the local Cleveland newspaper, The Cleveland Plain Dealer. When she was 12 years of age, her mother passed away from an aneurysm.
